Troubleshooting SprintPoker for Azure DevOps
What the messages you may meet mean, and what to do about each one.
Last updated
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| “Estimation saved to session but ADO work item … was not updated.” | The session kept the estimate, but Azure DevOps refused it. Check that the work item’s type has an estimation field in Work Item Type Settings, that the field takes that value (a number field cannot take a T-shirt size), and that you can edit the work item. Then save the estimate again. |
| An estimate saved in a session does not show on the work item | Check the same things: the work item type’s estimation field, the value it takes, and that you can edit the work item. Then save the estimate again. |
| “You are not a participant of this session” | The session is private. Ask one of its moderators to add you. |
| “Only moderators can activate AI hint” | Only a session’s moderators can ask for a hint. Ask one of them, or ask to be made a moderator. |
| There is no Show Hint in the toolbar | The session has AI features off: a moderator can turn Enable AI Features on in Session Settings. In Async Poker the button also waits until a work item is picked, and is gone once the session is finished. |
| “This project has more than 20,000 work items. Use Advanced Search with a narrower saved query or WIQL.” | Azure DevOps returns at most 20,000 work items to one query. Use Advance Search with a narrower saved query or WIQL. |
| “Large project: showing the first … work items. Use Advanced Search to find other work items.” | The list shows part of a big project. Use Advance Search to find the others. |
| “Save this work item first to use Quick Estimation.” | Save the new work item, then use the panel. |
| “Setting saved, but ADO feature visibility may not update” | SprintPoker saved the setting, but Azure DevOps did not apply it. Ask a Project Administrator to change it on the same page. |
| “Configure at least one work item type with an estimation field.” | Give at least one work item type an estimation field in Work Item Type Settings, then save. |
