Get started with SprintPoker for Jira

Install the app

1. Open the listingA Jira administrator opens SprintPoker on the Atlassian Marketplace (or the free listing, SprintPoker: Free Planning Poker & Async Estimation).
2. Install it on your siteChoose your Jira Cloud site and accept the access the app asks for. It is built on Atlassian Forge and runs in Jira Cloud only.
3. Open SprintPokerEveryone on the site can now open SprintPoker from Jira’s Apps menu.

Where SprintPoker appears in Jira

• Apps menu: SprintPoker opens the dashboard, with your sessions and Create Session.
• A project: the SprintPoker project page shows that project’s sessions.
• A board: the board’s SprintPoker action, Start Estimating.
• An issue: the SprintPoker panel in the issue view, for quick estimation.
• Project settings: a SprintPoker page.
• Jira settings, Apps: the SprintPoker Admin Page, for Jira admins (see Admin settings).

Your first session

1. Create a sessionOn the dashboard, choose Create Session. Pick Poker or Async Poker, name the session and choose its settings.
2. Choose the issuesPick the issues to estimate, then choose Start Session.
3. Estimate togetherShare the session with your team. Everyone picks a card, the moderator reveals the votes and saves the agreed estimate to Jira.

Who can do what

• Anyone who can use Jira on the site can open SprintPoker and create a session.
• In a session, people are a Moderator, a Participant or an Observer. See Run a session.
• Only Jira admins can change the app’s site-wide settings on the SprintPoker Admin Page.
• SprintPoker shows only the issues and fields Jira lets you see. Saving an estimate writes it to the issue’s estimation field in Jira, so Jira’s own rules for that field apply.
