About the app
What is Laya Board for Jira?
A free app from the Atlassian Marketplace that gives you a fast Laya-style board over your real Jira issues, inside Jira. Optionally, the site can be linked to one Laya workspace — with no API token stored — so Jira changes stream into Laya as they happen and edits made in Laya flow back. By default anyone on the Jira site can set up that link; a Jira admin can restrict it to admins only. See Laya Board for Jira.
Do I need a Laya account to use it?
No — the Jira board, workflow transitions, ranking, the sprint planner and Board Studio all work with just your Jira account. A Laya account is needed only to approve a workspace link, which unlocks the optional linked features such as external provider boards, native Laya boards and master boards. If you want to link and do not have an account yet, create one first.
How is the app different from connecting Jira from Laya?
They are two routes into the same sync engine. A connection made from Laya uses OAuth or an API token; the app is installed in Jira and needs no token at all. By default, edits made through the app are applied in Jira as the app rather than the person — members who link their own Jira access in Laya can switch a per-user toggle to have their edits attributed to them personally. See Who the edit is credited to; Choosing your setup compares the options.
Linking and disconnecting
How do I approve the app link?
Start the link from the app — by default anyone on the Jira site can do this (a Jira admin can restrict it to admins only in the app's Permissions panel). The app shows a short pairing code valid for 15 minutes; enter it as the Connection code on Laya's Connect an app to Laya page from a signed-in session, check which Jira site you are approving, pick the workspace to grant, then choose Approve access and return to Jira. See Laya Board for Jira — admin guide.
How many Laya workspaces can one install link to?
One. Approving the app link grants a single Laya workspace, and the connection anchors that Jira site to that workspace — reconnecting later re-establishes the same workspace rather than creating a duplicate. See Laya Board for Jira — admin guide.
What happens if the app link is disconnected?
It depends where you disconnect. Disconnecting the connection from inside Laya removes the mirrored boards and their cached issues. Disconnecting from the app inside Jira keeps the mirrored data in the Laya workspace unless you tick "Also delete synced data in Laya" (or run Delete synced data first). Native boards and imported items stay in Laya as ordinary items either way, and reconnecting the app re-establishes the same workspace within seconds. See Disconnecting safely and the admin guide.
