Boards are where your team plans and ships work. Right after sign-up Laya drops you straight into board creation; at any other time, open your workspace's Boards page and choose + New board.

Step 1 — choose how your team works

Board creation is a two-step wizard — (1) Type · (2) Details. Step 1 asks "How does your team work?" and offers a starting point you can change later:

TypeWhat the wizard saysStarting columns
KanbanContinuous flow, no fixed iterations.Backlog · In progress · Done · On hold
ScrumTime-boxed sprints with backlog grooming. To do · In progress · In review · Done
Master boardCombine connected boards into one Laya-native view.Composed from the boards you pick
ConnectMirror boards from another tool into Laya.Mirrors the source board

Choosing Master board takes you to the "Build one master board" composer instead (learn more); choosing Connect starts a short guided funnel — Why · Source · Connect · Done — covered in Connect your first tool. For your very first board, Kanban or Scrum is usually the right start.

Step 2 — details

Step 2 collects the essentials — the wizard reassures you that "This is all we need. Customise below only if you want to." Your board gets an icon from a built-in icon set on one of eight accent swatches, or you can upload your own.

An optional Customise (Board Studio) section adds four tabs — Theme, Cards, Effects, Columns — with a live preview, so you can restyle the board before it exists. Everything here can also be changed later from Board Studio.

Create the board and Laya launches it with a small celebration animation, landing you on the empty board.

Add your first cards

  1. Choose + New issue (or press c)The + New issue button on the board — or the keyboard shortcut c — opens the "New issue" dialog.
  2. Fill in what you knowTitle and description (Markdown supported), plus optional priority, assignee, estimate, labels, epic, sprint and due date. A "More" overflow adds Start date. Only the title is essential.
  3. Work the boardDrag cards between columns as work progresses, and open any card for its full detail panel — description, attachments, subtasks, relations, notes and activity.

Your board also has four layouts — Board, Table, Calendar, Timeline — switchable from the tabs at the top. See Views, filters and grouping for filters, swimlanes and saved views.
