Workspaces and boards: how they are organised

This article maps out where everything lives: how workspace addresses work, how the boards hub is laid out, and how individual boards get their URLs.

Workspace addresses

A team workspace lives at /{handle} — for example laya.net/acme. A personal workspace lives at /personal/{handle}. The two kinds behave identically page-for-page; the difference is privacy: a personal workspace is yours alone and invites are disabled, and that choice is permanent once the workspace is created.

The boards hub

The workspace root — /{handle} or /personal/{handle} — is the boards hub. Two segmented tabs labelled "Native" and "Connected", each with a live count, split the hub between boards created in Laya and boards mirrored from connected tools.

Filters and grouping

• Template filter chips: All, Kanban, Scrum, Bug tracker, Marketing, Product, Custom.
• When grouped by recency, boards fall into Today, This week, This month and Older; ungrouped, the heading is "All boards".
• If your filters match nothing, you get "No boards match your filters" with a "Clear filters" button.

Archived boards

A collapsible "Archived" section sits below the active boards and loads its contents the first time you expand it. Archiving a board is reversible — the confirm dialog says "You can restore it later."

Starting from empty

With no native boards yet, the hub shows "Create your first board" with two buttons — "+ New board" and "Build a master board" — plus a link "Prefer to bring existing work in? Connect a source →". The empty Connected tab is headed "Bring your boards into Laya" and offers connect buttons for Jira, Azure DevOps, monday.com, GitHub and GitLab.

Board addresses

Each board gets a short code, and its URL is /{handle}/{boardCode}. Connected boards use a separate route shape under the workspace: /{handle}/external/{provider}/{code}. A handful of words (such as settings, docs, roadmap and new) are reserved for workspace pages, so a board code can never collide with them.

Board icons

Everywhere a board is shown — the sidebar and the boards hub — its icon follows the same precedence: an uploaded image first, then the glyph picked in the create wizard, then a two-letter monogram from the board's short code.
