Create and switch workspaces

Your first workspace is created automatically with your account. When you need another — a Team workspace for collaboration, or a separate space for a different group — use the Create a workspace page. You can belong to as many workspaces as you like and switch between them from the sidebar.

Create a workspace

Open the workspace switcher in the left sidebar and choose Create a workspace (it also lives at /new-workspace). The page walks you through four choices:

1. Name the workspaceAs you type, Laya derives a URL handle and an initials avatar live, so you can see the address the workspace will get.
2. Pick an accent colourChoose one of the five accent swatches: Indigo, Cyan, Green, Amber or Rose.
3. Choose a starting boardPick a Kanban board, a Scrum board, connecting a tool, composing a master board — or no board at all.
4. Create itThe button label reflects your choice: "Create workspace & open Kanban board", "… & open Scrum board", "… & connect a tool", "… & compose master board", or "Create empty workspace".

You land in the new workspace immediately, at the starting point you chose. If you picked "connect a tool", see Connect your first tool for what comes next.

Switch between workspaces

The workspace switcher lives in the left sidebar. It groups your workspaces under three headings — Invitations, Personal and Team workspaces — with the Create a workspace action at the bottom.

• Pending invitations appear inline at the top with an Accept button — accepting takes you straight into the joined workspace.
• Laya remembers your last-focused workspace, so the sidebar stays on it even while you are on personal pages such as Home, Inbox or My issues.
• The switcher refreshes when you return to the browser tab, and updates live when your role changes or you are added to (or removed from) a workspace.
