Workspaces explained
What a Laya workspace is, the difference between Personal and Team workspaces, and what lives at workspace level.

A workspace is the container everything in Laya lives inside: your boards, work items, docs, roadmap, members and connections. Every account belongs to at least one workspace, and you can belong to several at once — each with its own members, boards and settings.
Personal vs Team workspaces
Laya has exactly two kinds of workspace, and the kind is fixed at creation — a workspace can never change from one kind to the other.

Your first workspace is created for you
When you create a Laya account, a Personal workspace is created automatically and named after you — for example "Alex's Workspace" — so you can start working straight away without a setup wizard. You can add more workspaces at any time — see Create and switch workspaces.
Workspace URLs and handles
Every workspace has a handle that forms its web address. Team workspaces live at laya.net/{handle} and Personal workspaces live at laya.net/personal/{handle}. A Personal and a Team workspace may even share the same handle, because they live under different paths.
- Handles are 3–32 characters: lowercase letters a–z, digits 0–9 and hyphens.
- A handle cannot start or end with a hyphen.
- Team handles cannot use reserved route words such as
personal,settings,connect,new,new-workspace,onboarding,me,issue,docs,crm,admin,api,invitesorexternal.
What lives at workspace level
The sidebar's workspace section gives every member access to Boards, Roadmap, Initiatives, Docs, Labels, Calendar, Views, Insights — and CRM in Team workspaces. Workspace administration (Settings, Properties, Automations, Audit) appears in an Administration section for the workspace's Owner and Admins only.
Connections to other tools — Jira, Azure DevOps, monday.com, GitHub and GitLab — are also made per workspace, so each workspace keeps its own set of connected boards and its own sync health view.
