Roles

RoleWhat they can do
Jira site administratorInstalls, updates and removes the app, manages the Pro licence and sets the Jira permissions the app relies on.
ModeratorRuns the retro: polls, timer, hidden or visible mode, icebreakers, sprint goals, the AI sprint summary, Team Health pulses, the Facilitator tab, the whiteboard (start, import, export), column edits, settings, members, and closing or reopening the retro.
ParticipantAdds, edits and moves their own cards, comments, reacts, gives kudos, votes, answers polls and pulses, and adds actions.

The person who creates a retro becomes its moderator. Being a Jira administrator does not make you one. From the member list, a moderator can Promote to Moderator or Demote to User another person, or Remove Participant, and can invite people with Invite to Session.

Retro settings

A moderator opens the retro’s settings to rename it, change the linked sprint, set the vote limit, and switch between public and private.

Pro licences

SprintRetro Pro is licensed for your whole Jira site through the Atlassian Marketplace. In the free app, the dashboard shows Upgrade to Pro, which opens the Pro listing.

If a Pro trial or subscription ends, SprintRetro Pro shows a Trial ended or Subscription inactive message with a button to Open Atlassian Admin, where a Jira administrator can renew it.
