AI JQL help in Jira
In Search & Export Issues, under Describe it in plain English, type what you want, for example "open bugs assigned to me, newest first", and choose Generate: AI writes the JQL. If a query you typed is not valid, the app says That query isn't valid and, a moment later, suggests a fix under Did you mean:. Choose it to use it. Always check the JQL before you export.
- AI help runs on Atlassian's own AI service, inside Atlassian.
- It sends only your request, or the invalid JQL and Jira's error, with your site's status, issue type and priority names and the project keys you can see. It does not read your issues.
- Each person can make up to 20 AI requests an hour.
- A Jira admin can turn AI assist off for everyone on the admin page. Search then shows only the JQL editor, with checking and autocomplete.
AI knowledge packs
Export a page, a page tree, a space or a document set as an AI knowledge pack to give AI assistants and RAG pipelines clean, attributable knowledge. The pack is a .zip with:
index.md, which mirrors the page tree;- one Markdown file per page, with front matter such as its title, page ID, space, version, labels and link back to Confluence;
manifest.json, with counts and an index of the pages, including token estimates and checksums;source-map.json, which maps the content back to its Confluence pages, versions and links, for citations;- an attachments folder, when you include attachments.
Use label filters and Export only Approved pages to keep drafts out of your AI corpus.
The Laya Markdown macro
Add the Laya Markdown macro to a Confluence page and write Markdown on its Write tab: headings, tables, lists and code blocks, and Mermaid diagrams such as flowcharts and sequence diagrams. Choose Apply to show it on the page. New page makes a new Confluence page from the Markdown, and Into page replaces the macro with normal page content.
