Setup checklist

A short, ordered checklist that takes a new team from an empty account to a working, customised, automated workspace.

Last updated

Setting up Laya for a team takes six steps, in this order. Each one links to a full guide.

  1. 1. Create your accountSign up with Atlassian, Azure DevOps, Google, Microsoft, Slack or email. A private personal workspace is created for you automatically. Create your account
  2. 2. Create a team workspaceYour personal workspace can't be shared, so create a Team workspace: name it, pick an accent colour and choose a starting board. Create or join a workspace
  3. 3. Create a board — or connect a toolStart a native Kanban or Scrum board (Create your first board), or mirror the boards your team already runs in Jira, Azure DevOps, monday.com, GitHub or GitLab (Connect your first tool). Many teams do both — see Native vs Connected vs both.
  4. 4. Invite your teamFrom Settings → Members, choose Invite people and paste your teammates' email addresses — you can send many invites at once and pick each person's role. Invite your team
  5. 5. CustomiseRestyle each board's theme, cards, columns and effects in Board Studio; tailor your own sidebar with Customise sidebar and set your theme (Light, System or Dark) — see Navigation and the shell.
  6. 6. AutomateOpen Automations in the sidebar and choose + New rule — or start from a template — to react to changes on your boards automatically. Automations

That's the whole setup: an account, a shared workspace, work on a board, your team inside, the product shaped to how you work, and the routine parts automated.
